The United States Gold Eagle circulation coins were first introduced in many denominations in 1796 and would continue in circulation in most of those denominations until 1929 or 1933. The Liberty Head gold coin design featured on various denominations of the coin and was the longest-running design in the broader series. Right now, Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coins are available to purchase online from Provident Metals.

Coins in Mint State 62 condition showcase impaired or dull luster. Clusters of small marks may be visible throughout with a few collections of large marks also visible in the prime focal areas.
Obverse
Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coins feature an obverse design that focuses on Lady Liberty. This design from Gobrecht was created in 1839 and is known as the Liberty Coronet design because her left-profile portrait comes with a coronet on the front of her head holding her hair out of her face. The coronet has Liberty inscribed on it. There are 13 stars around her figure and a date mark below.
Reverse
For the reverse of Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coins, you will find one of two different designs. The primary design of the American heraldic eagle is consistent throughout the 1839 to 1907 production of these coins. However, from 1839 to 1866, the coins did not have In God We Trust inscribed. In a move to unify the nation after the Civil War, various coins gained the national motto. It features on the reverse of those Liberty Gold Half Eagles produced from late 1866 to 1907 when the series concluded.
History
Pre-33 $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle Coins represent the second-to-last design in the Half Eagle collection. The Half Eagle gold coin was part of the broader circulation gold series that included the Gold Eagle at $10 as the main coin, along with the Quarter Eagle ($2.50), Half Eagle ($5.00), and Double Eagle ($20).
