The $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle coin was one of the first gold coins issued by the United States Mint. These coins debuted in 1796 and were available infrequently at first, but were produced continuously from 1829 to 1929 when all gold coins were removed from circulation in the United States. Today, Pre-33 $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle Coins are available to you online from Provident Metals.

The $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle was the final design used in the broader Quarter Eagle collection. This series was introduced in 1796 and produced on-and-off from that date to 1829 as the design and size of the coin was continually adjusted. The Indian Quarter Eagle design was created in 1908 by Boston-based sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt.
Obverse
The design on the obverse of the Pre-33 $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle Coin features an indigenous tribal figure in left-profile relief wearing an ornate, feathered headdress. There are 13 stars around the figures head with the date mark below and the word Liberty above.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the Pre-33 $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle is an image known as the standing eagle. The eagle stands perched on a collection of 13 arrows that is wrapped in an olive branch.
History
Pre-33 $2.50 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle Coins marked an important departure from the previous designs of American coinage. Rather than engraving designs onto the surface of the coin with 3D elements, the Indian Gold Quarter Eagle has an incuse design strike that resulted in no raised design surfaces because the images were struck down into the surface of the coins.
Ordering
These Pre-33 $2.5 Indian Gold Quarter Eagle coins are available to you in Mint State 61 condition with a protective plastic slab from the mint. Coins in this condition have diminished or noticeably impaired mint luster with clusters of large and small contact marks throughout the design fields of the coin.
