On the obverse side of the 2024-P Proof Greatest Generation Dollar Silver Coin, you’ll find a stunning depiction of the Earth supported by branches of the US military, including the Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, Army, and Marine Corps, along with the Merchant Marine from World War II. Inscriptions read 1941-1945, WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL, DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2024.
Reverse
The reverse of this 2024-P Proof American Greatest Generation Dollar Coin features a unique scene from the Victory Pavilion in the World War II Memorial, with four eagles encircling the Earth with a laurel wreath. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, WWII MEMORIAL, ONE DOLLAR, P, RG, BS, and VICTORY AT SEA ON LAND IN THE AIR.
History
These coins are part of the prestigious Greatest Generation Coin Program, which honors those who served during World War II, a pivotal moment in history. Alongside the Harriet Tubman Bicentennial, this is one of two commemorative coin programs issued by the US Mint in 2024. The Greatest Generation Coin Program consists of 3 unique coins, a gold coin, a half dollar, and this dollar silver coin.
