Obverse
The obverse features of the 2021 Proof Rwandan Lunar Ox 1 oz Silver Coins include a depiction of the ox. A large, powerful bovine species, the ox has performed rugged chores in human agricultural societies for thousands of years. The creature was first harnessed by humans in 4,000 BCE and used to pull plows and carts. The inscriptions featured on this face of the coin read Lunar Ounce, 2021, 1 oz Fine Silver 999, and showcase the Chinese symbol for the ox around the design rim. Reverse
On the reverse side of 2021 Proof Rwandan Lunar Ox Silver Coins is the national coat of arms. The seal of the Republic of Rwanda includes a traditional clay pot at its center. This is flanked by sorghum and coffee branches with the design framed by shields on either side and encircled in a rope tied with a knot at the bottom. The Rwandan Lunar Ounce Series debuted in 2017 with the Year of the Rooster design. The Year of the Rooster is the 10th in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac, with the Year of the Ox representing the second year in the Zodiac.
