Ancient Greek mythology is full of stories related to the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus. These individuals are said to be immortal and have the power to control the fate of mankind. Prior to the rule of the gods, the Titans controlled the world. It was the sons of one of the Titans who overthrew the Titans to establish the gods as the rulers of Mount Olympus. Zeus and his brothers, Poseidon and Hades, were among the leaders of this rebellion.
Obverse
On the obverse side of 2020 Tuvalu Gods of Olympus Zeus 1 oz Silver Coins is an image of Queen Elizabeth II. This bust of Her Majesty is the fourth-generation portrait of the monarch for British coins and has been used widely on Commonwealth coins for Australia, Niue, Fiji, Tuvalu, and the Cook Islands. Inscriptions on this face include Queen Elizabeth II, 1 oz 9999 Ag, 2020, and Tuvalu 1 Dollar.
Reverse
The reverse face of the 2020 Tuvalu Gods of Olympus Zeus Silver Coins come with a depiction of the supreme ruler of Mount Olympus, Zeus. This muscular image of Zeus is wrapped in cloth and he carries lightning bolts in his left hand while wielding a scepter in his right hand. An eagle is shown soaring overhead. Inscriptions on this face of the coins include only ZEUS.
History
In 2014, the Perth Mint issued only 2 oz silver antique coins in the Gods of Olympus Series, as well as the 2015 Goddesses of Olympus Series. Now, for 2020, the Perth Mint revives the Gods of Olympus designs in a new dual-release 1 oz silver collection. In addition to this silver BU coin, you will find the series also has a 1 oz antique silver coin.
