The Proof Silver Dollar Series at the Native American Mint honors the historic homelands of North Americas indigenous peoples by connecting those tribes with coin designs representing a particular state and important animal that was central to the culture of that tribe. When you purchase a 2020 Proof Nebraska Arapaho Catfish 1 oz Silver Coin from Provident Metals, the specimens are available in brand-new condition and come with an individual protective plastic capsule to house the coin. The silver coins have a unique proof finish with satin, frosted visuals, and a mirrored background field. Though these coins do have a noted face value of 1 Dollar, the coins are not recognized legal tender in the United States. Sovereign, federally-recognized tribes are independent nations, but only the US Mint has the authority to issue coins with a face value assigned by Congress.

Obverse

An Arapaho tribal figure is featured in full ceremonial dress on the obverse of 2020 Proof Nebraska Arapaho Catfish 1 oz Silver Coins. The figure is captured in front-facing relief with braided hair and a stoic gaze. The inscriptions on this side include Arapaho, 999 Silver, 2020, One Dollar, and One Ounce.

Reverse

The channel catfish, North Americas most populous catfish species, is found in the reverse design element of 2020 Proof Nebraska Arapaho Catfish Silver Coins. The channel catfish is native to Earths Nearctic region and is naturally well distributed throughout lower Canada, the eastern and northern United States, and in select parts of northern Mexico. The channel catfish just happens to be the official state fish of several US states, including Nebraska. Inscriptions on this face of the coin read Nebraska Channel Catfish, Jamul Sovereign Nation, and America.

History

The Arapaho people are said to have formed known tribes in the Red River Valley some 3,000 years ago. After living in Manitoba, the western Dakotas, and Minnesota for thousands of years, the Arapaho began to move southward and expand through trade and warfare.
