Obverse
On the obverse field of all 2020 British Britannia 1/10 oz Platinum Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in the 2015 design created for the Royal Mint by Jody Clark. It depicts the Queen at the age of 89 as she wears the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2020 British Britannia 1/10 oz Platinum Coins includes the image of Britannia. Philip Nathans design of Britannia won an art contest hosted by the Royal Mint in 1987 and has featured on the gold coins since the debut of the series. It has been adapted for use on all versions of the coin, including the more recently introduced platinum version of the coin.
History
British Britannia coins feature one of the most prominent images from British history. Britannia is a female personification of Britain adapted from the Latin name for Great Britain when it was a Roman province. She is depicted in Nathans design with the Union Jack on her shield and a trident in her right hand symbolizing her control over the seas. The platinum version of the British Britannia coins debuted in 2018.
