Marking the 10th anniversary of this popular coin series, the 1995 American Silver Eagle contains 1 oz. of .999 fine silver and is available at Provident Metals. It measures approximately 40.6 mm in diameter and 2.98 mm in thickness. Each coin, complete with reeded edges, weighs roughly 31.1 grams.
Each American Silver Eagle features similar designs on its obverse and reverse. The obverse side features the 1916 Walking Liberty design, originally created by Adolph A. Weinman for the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The design features Lady Liberty, draped in a flowing cloak, walking toward the sunrise. The words “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” surround her outline.
The reverse side features the Great Seal of the United States, originally designed in 1782 and adopted as the official coat of arms. It has also been used to authenticate certain documents issued by the federal government. The seal features an eagle holding a bundle of arrows in one claw with an olive branch in the other, symbolizing war and peace, respectively. Along with 13 stars that represent the 13 original colonies, the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “1 oz. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR” are engraved as well.
