  • Certified coins with limited availability!
  • Each coin contains .7734 Troy oz of actual silver content.
  • Backed by the unwavering assurance of the US government with a face value of $1 (USD).
  • Graded Mint State 63 by the renowned Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Features the captivating Lady Liberty on the obverse.
  • Showcases the majestic heraldic eagle on the reverse.

At Provident Metals, all 1888 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins are available in MS63 condition. This grade indicates slightly impaired luster, scattered small contact marks, a few heavier marks, and the potential for small patches of hairlines visible without magnification.

Obverse

The obverse of the 1888 Morgan Dollar Coin boasts the enduring image of Lady Liberty. She stands in left-profile relief, adorned with a Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and a laurel wreath.

Reverse

On the reverse side, you’ll find the awe-inspiring heraldic eagle, an iconic design crafted by George T. Morgan. Notably, this eagle effigy lacks the US national shield. The bald eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons.

History

The 1888 release from the Philadelphia Mint is the fifth-highest mintage ever at Philadelphia. It comes behind the 1921, 1889, 1887, and 1886 issues, in order. It was the fourth-highest of the decade.
