Introducing the Morgan Dollar Silver Coin, a true icon of history. These stunning coins were minted from 1878-1904, then made a brief return in 1921, and once again in 2021. With over 650 million coins minted, this series is known worldwide. We’re proud to offer you the 1885 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin with an MS64 grade, available at Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Ships in an NGC protective slab!
  • Total mintage of 17,787,000 silver coins!
  • Availability limited of certified coins!
  • Contains .7734 Troy oz of actual silver content.
  • The face value of $1 (USD) is backed by the federal government.
  • Graded MS64 by the National Guaranty Corporation.
  • Obverse showcases Lady Liberty.
  • Reverse depicts a bald eagle.

To preserve the condition of your certified coin, it will arrive in an NGC protective slab. The National Guaranty Corporation has given all coins in this listing an MS64 grade, showing an average strike and luster with scattered contact marks and hairline scratches, some of which may be in prime focal areas.

Obverse

The obverse field of each 1885 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin showcases a left-profile relief image of Lady Liberty. Along with this iconic portrait are 13 stars representing the original colonies. Inscriptions include E PLURIBUS UNUM, and 1885.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 1885 Morgan Dollar Silver Coin, you’ll find a majestic bald eagle, ready to take flight, while holding a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, surrounded by decorative laurels tied together with a ribbon. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.

History

The design of these iconic coins was created by George T. Morgan, the former Chief Engraver. The image of Lady Liberty on the obverse is based on a real Philadelphia school teacher named Anna Williams. The coins themselves are named after the 7th Chief Engraver of the US Mint. Coins from the Philadelphia Mint, such as the ones in this listing, do not bear a mint mark like other coins from the US Mint.
