The Scottsdale Mint and Argor Heraeus combine on the production of the Scottsdale Mint-branded gold bullion bars for each animal in the Chinese lunar calendar. The Scottsdale Mint bars feature a fresh design for each animal and come with a date mark to denote the year in which that animal appears.

Obverse

On the obverse side of the 1 oz Gold Lunar Year of the Rat Bar is the image of a rat in right-profile relief as it sits beneath the branches extending from a tree. Inscriptions include 2020 down the left side of the bar, the Chinese symbol for a rat in the upper-left corner, and Year of the Rat along the bottom.

Reverse

The reverse face of 1 oz Gold Lunar Year of the Rat Bars features the design of the combined logo for Scottsdale Mint and Argor Heraeus. When the two team up for production, this circular logo with the American and Swiss flags in the center on poles is featured. Around the flags, you will notice the name of both mints as Scottsdale Mint and Argor Heraeus.

History

The Scottsdale Mint has issued gold lunar bars for several years now, delivering different designs for each of the animals in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac. 2020 not only marks the Year of the Rat, but also the restart of the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac. The rat is the first in the cycle because it arrived first to a meeting of animals called by the Jade Emperor.

Your 1 oz Gold Lunar Year of the Rat Bar comes with a protective CertiLock assay card. This assay card includes the weight, metal content, purity, and serial number of the bar. The card also notes the name of the release and date. There is also a QR code on the reverse side of the CertiLock assay card.
